Olivia and Daisy, Portrait Session…

How cool is their Mom that she let the girls get into the fountain at their home here in Orange County?

He’s Walking!

Today Sparky took his first real walking steps at home.  Yesterday he took 12 steps at Cal Elite on their padded floor–smart kid, if you’re going to fall, might just as well be there!

He still tends to crawl more because it’s just faster right now, and I’m sure he’ll walk even more soon.  Especially with all the positive feedback and encouragement.

The first sleep over here in Ladera…

Eva came to the house for dinner and a sleep over — Kate’s first while here in Ladera and Eva’s first as well.

And both stayed up WAY longer than normal…the excitement I suppose.  Finally just after nine they both cashed out and later both Nicki and I made photos of the two of them sleeping.

I thought that might have been the photo of the day, but I actually liked this one a bit better made just before Kate gave Mom a hug goodnight (and before we left the room so they could read books and gab…mostly the latter).

It will be interesting to see how breakfast goes after a late night for both.

Landon, at Montage Beach…

This morning I had a fun session photographing Landon and Brayden in South Laguna.

Michele, their Mom was there as well and the boys had a nice adventure being at the beach.

It was a bit chilly early on, but as the sun started to break through the Marine Layer, summer came back.

Here’s a favorite of mine — Landon just picked up feathers and used them as props during this portrait.

Kate Tossed into the Pool…

Matt got quite a workout today as he played Kid Toss for several turns throwing Kate and her buddies into the pool while they were attending Tommy’s Birthday party here in Ladera Ranch.

Kate visits her friend Charli…

We all actually went to visit our friends Gary and Yesenia and their little one Charli this afternoon.

Kate and Charli busied themselves up in her room and then came downstairs and eventually made a game of tossing some of Charli’s princess dolls (Jasmine is almost out of the frame at the left).

It’s funny watching the little ones, they’ll make up games on a whim and will do just about anything to keep things fun and interesting.

It was great to see them all — we haven’t seen them in person for quite a while — a nice way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.

Roses in Late Afternoon Light…

It was a quiet day for photographing others, but I made some photographs of interesting light coming through the home both early morning and later.

This image was made late in the day as the sun was pouring through the blinds in our bedroom.

It’s tough to go wrong with early morning light or late afternoon light — it just makes things look extra special.

Day Two hundred thirty-eight:

Sparky and Popsicle…

It was a hot one today and our little guy cooled down (and also made quite the mess) while having a sugar free popsicle after his afternoon nap.

Spider on a web at dawn….

Heading to the gym just before the sun came up, I noticed a spider hanging out in a web between our houses.

This is the height of spider season and the industrious buggers will have a web built through the night across the steps in front of the house or from a shrub to the car parked outside.

Braided hair….

Kate and I took a little break at the little gazebo near the house this morning.

Originally it was to kick the soccer ball around in anticipation of her AYSO soccer practice on Thursday afternoon.

I think that lasted all of about 10-15 kicks at the most and then Kate wanted to stop and go find “fairy dust”.

She and her neighborhood friends spend a lot of time in this little park with their moms and siblings and they create with whatever they find.

In so many ways this is better than any playground because they run and go find leaves, dirt and create things such as “leaf pie” as Kate was doing this morning.

As she was making her creation, I made this image that showed the braid that Nicki put in her hair in the morning and believe me, that is not easy because Kate is so fussy about how her hair is brushed (sometimes it’s a bit of a battle).
